Why should I join Greek Life at SFA and Why KA?

Parents and incoming students,

I’m Parker Weiblinger, the Recruitment Chairman of Kappa Alpha Order at Stephen F. Austin State. Greek life has given my brothers and I countless opportunities to form lasting friendships, make important connections, and create unforgettable memories. With the new experiences and new challenges that come with the transition into college, making the decision to join Greek life, and specifically Kappa Alpha, can give you a support system for not only the best years of your life, but the rest of your life.

At Kappa Alpha Order, we embody success in many areas. Academically, Greek Life in general consistently achieves a higher GPA than the all-school average. That is to say, the average GPA of students involved in Greek Life is regularly higher than the campus average.

We host brotherhood events often, ensuring a tightly knit group of young men that value trust, loyalty, and a competitive drive which helps to push one another to strive for greatness. Brotherhood dinners and other regular events keep our brotherhood strong. We also go on many trips together throughout the year.

Socially, we host a multitude of social functions each semester which cultivate great relationships with other sororities on campus. There is always activity going on in our lodge, creating a fun and welcoming environment at all times. Additionally, you can find a KA in many groups on campus, including members of the IFC Executive Board, College Republicans, Geology Club, Society for Entrepreneurship Advancement, and more. Because of this, it is very easy to get involved in other campus organizations, especially ones in which other members are involved in as well.

Delta Kappa Chapter at Stephen F. Austin State  has been around since the 1960’s, and years later, we even over sixty years later still aim for the same excellence like our brothers before us.
Recruitment begins Monday, August 23. Be sure to sign up for Fall Recruitment. Signing up for formal recruitment, and going through formal recruitment in general, is not a commitment to any house at all. It only gives us and the other fraternities at SFA a chance to contact you over the summer, invite you to some of the events we have planned, and help you prepare for college in general. My brothers and I want to encourage you to take a look at Greek life, and especially KA. Going through recruitment is simple and a great way to meet other students in your class and with similar interests.

If you (parents, guardians, or students) have any questions or concerns regarding KA or Greek Life at SFA in general, please feel free to contact me. We are all excited to see you on campus next year and want to make sure you are prepared for the experience of a lifetime!
